Hey, I’m Andrew — a solo traveler who believes that traveling should be accessible to everyone.

I started Get Lost on a Budget because I was tired of travel blogs making it seem like you need luxury hotels or expensive tours to have a great time. Simply, that is not me and I will never sell or recommend something expensive to make money myself. I travel cheap, solo, and optimize my days filled to the brim to make the most out of every destination without spending a fortune.

A Bit About Me

While I am not one of the full time travelers that spend months on end traveling, I can offer something else: a more realistic approach to traveling and to your holiday. I want to assist in any way I can and make travel accessible to everyone as it truly is one of life’s greatest joys.

  • I am a 24 year old from the tiny country of Malta
  • I’ve traveled to 20+ countries across Europe and outside
  • My average budget? I managed to plan full trips with as little as €300
  • While I always save money I do sometimes opt for a more expensive option if it saves me time and comfort

If you are looking for luxury hotel and resorts reviews you are in the wrong place (Except in SE Asia, coming soon). You will find comprehensive guides with up to date checks to prices to reflect the budget of a particular place.

The designated family/friends itinerary planner always ends up being yours truly and I want to be the same for others. This is my passion and I want to one day visit the world and taking you with me.

Who is this Blog for?

This blog is for budget travelers, backpackers, solo travelers and even if you are traveling in a couple or a family, I try and cater for everyone and anyone who is looking to spend their money on experiencing traveling and getting lost on a budget!

If you’re looking for:

  • 1-day city itineraries that don’t need you to buy into a tour
  • Honest breakdowns of what things really cost
  • Cheapest ways of planning and getting to and from places
  • Or even Places off the beaten path which aren’t as popular

…you’re in the right place.

Why Solo Budget Travel?

After some sporadic travels with my family up until the age of 18, I always had the urge to travel more independently and go out to explore and be in charge of my own decisions. I was always interested when planning the itinerary and argue with my parents that this route is better than that one and so on.

Having had that experience from a young age, I followed it up this time when planning a group trip. My first trip was in 2021 and well as you may have guessed it aligned with the easing of COVID travel restrictions.

It turned out to be quite the trip as we all ended up getting COVID but when life gives you lemons you make lemonade.

At the end we had to split up and it gave me a couple of days to explore Manchester on my own which experience gave me the confidence for solo traveling and I have never looked back!

From city trips in London, Barcelona, Rome and so many others to the more luscious nature in the Slovenian alps, hiking and admiring nature, I can say that I planned all sorts of different trips. The challenge was to do it in a cost efficient manner so that I could do it as frequent as possible!
